I'm sure most of you wondering about this issue don't have monitoring that is capable of revealing the difference in blind test, but if you do, read this.
Thanks!

I am still surprised after all these years we cannot choose a third party dither when "exporting clips as files". Or even NOT to. Would be nice. Same with SRC. Maybe it will change some day.

I haven't seen it a problem as this is not a final product. Care to elaborate why this is so important? For a single clip?

I like to assemble my final mastered parts with Protools in whatever resolution say 24/96. When exporting 16bit/44.1 final for CD, you are forced to use AVID SRC or their dither.

Workaround is to Export in high rez and SRC/Dither with izotope etc in another daw.

Would save a step to be able to select say Goodhertz or MBIT etc and export to 16/44.1

No, you are not forced to. You can for example have a Waves limiter that has dither to do the job for you (when you bounce your master)... What you are looking for is selecting dither for a clip export (?) which is not an end product at least as I see it...

To give an easier explanation, I have a session at 24/96. I do a mix print by recording to a track. Now I want to make a ref thats 16/44.1. I can just export the file using "export clips as files". Done. But its using the ****ty SRC/Dither like the OP said. You can't choose a 3rd party. Only bouncing to disc does not automatically dither/noise shape..... That is an "End Product"

One simple change in your technique would solve this. Instead of exporting your 2-mix, insert the dither of your choice on the mix track, solo the track and Bounce to Disk(real-time of off-line) and set the BTD settings to give a 16 bit/44.1K file. This way, you are in complete control over dither. With off-line bounce, this only adds a minute or less(a small trade-off for solving your issue)

Yeah. I have done it that way as well. But there are other scenarios where It would be great if I we could choose our destiny! lol!! Honesty its supposed to be the top of the line industry standard DAW. This is just another old thing that I think they should update to bring it into a more modern environment. Their algos are SOOOO old!
