Default How do they make the voice of “Tim Shaw” in Dr Who?

Hello,

This is the vocals for the Character of “Tim Shaw” on the show Dr Who season 11.
I’ve been looking a handful of times and just can’t seem to find any information about what kind of work was done of these vocals. I think they sound amazing and I would love to take elements into my own work. Any advice??

Here the reference

Sounds like it's pitched down a tiny bit, lots of reverb, close proximity miking, and some sort of low frequency enhancer/harmonizer.

Agreed. I think most of that is just performance.

I am not Ryan Young but ...

I would try Eventide H3000 Factory plugin https://www.eventideaudio.com/produc.../h3000-factory

... it has some really cool effects and we have both the hardware unit and the software plugin and the plugin actually sounds a smidgent better and has more tweak options than the hardware.

We bought the hardware unit from the FoH engineer Dave Rat of Red Hot Chilli Peppers after a concert in 2011 since we had VIP access and they had two extra units and they never used those. The two he use on the tours were enough so Happy Days hehe

It is a fantastic piece of gear used all over the world on tours and in countless studios so now when we have access to the plugin for 10% of the HW cost I would really recommend you demo it.

While there have a look at the blackhole reverb and the 2016 reverb aswell if you are after that ”movie” type efx

lol, consider yourself lucky!

But, great suggestion and awesome explanations, too. I don't have much to recommend in my own experiences, however I do have and rarely use the Waves LoAir plugin with pretty good results. But, like most people have said, it's mostly in the performance and getting great proximity to the mic for starters. Would love to hear what you end up achieving!
