Automation Quirk...I didn't Write any Automation!!

Why is it that Automation is written to a track, when I know
I didn't write any?

Example, I'll use a session for tuning vocals. I'll go through
and tune the vocals, then delete the orginal files and tracks.
After I delete the original files and tracks, mute and pan automation
is written to the New tuned tracks at about 600 minutes. I NEVER
wrote any automation.

I don't get it!

Good question!! Did you drag any regions from one track to another? That would also drag any existing automation to the new track. Check that the tracks automation button is set to "read" and not to "touch". If all else fails, select each function in the edit window channel(volume and mute) and select the entire track and hit delete to dump any automation from the track. Just don't have "waveform" selected(so you don't delete the audio). Not sure if I helped but good luck. Do you have all the latest updates for your version of PT?

I haven't drug (Nashville talk)anything to different tracks.
I just bus & tune the vocal to another track, delete the orginal,
and BOOM automation is written in the pan & mute section at 600 minutes.

It is time consuming to delete automation when I have to mix 10 songs by 5pm
every other day. Quirky little deal...

You might want to go to preferences and put a 6 minute limit on session length. I have never had the problem but I feel your pain.

I set my record length to 6min, however, it only moves the automation
that I did not write to 6min. I don't understand why it writes automation
that I didn't tell it to.
