Default Multiple Drives For Pro Tools 11

Howdy
I looking to put a system together for Pro Tools 11 and use multiple hard drives. If I go with three drives this what my thoughts are
1. Drive A Mac OS and Pro Tools Software
2. Recording Drive
3. Samples Drive

So here is my question, I use Komplete (Kontact), BFD 2 (with extra samples), Superior Drummer (Extra Samples). My question is where would I put these Virtual Instruments, ie what drive? What drives do plug ins go on (The other virtual instruments and effects)? Will I be able to open the samples in Pro Tools/INstruments/ where to I direct it to go look for the samples
Thanks in advance
Howard

Default Re: Multiple Drives For Pro Tools 11

AAX plugins go in the plugins folder in (Mac OS)\Library\Application Support\Avid\Audio\Plug-ins
Komplete installs to the system drive as well. I also use Reason which also installs to the system drive. Some samples can be loaded to other drives. Not sure about BFD because I haven't used it in a while.

In my main machine I have 4 drives, 2 system drives (one Mountain Lion, one Mavericks), a "recording" drive for project and session files and an SFX library drive (I do sound design for games and post mostly). Plus I work from external drives quite a bit too when working on site at other studios and transfers/redundancy.

Superior Drummer 2 (SD2) SDXs can be loaded to another drive. That may or may not improve performance as it loads samples into RAM when activated
