Default Any harm in connecting an Omni to a live HDX card?

I'm new to PT/HDX and just got my Omni. I have just built a Win7, Intel 4770K based PT 11HD system.

I have an HDX card in the system that will generally left running 24/7. If the Omni is powered off, not connected to any AC, is there any harm in connecting the digilink cable to the HDX in the live computer, and then connecting the AC and powering up the Omni?

For that matter is there any harm in powering on/off any HD O/I (8x8, 16x16) to a live HDX computer?

I don't see this directly addressed in the Avid docs.

Thanks,
Tom

I dont think it would be an issue, but I would never risk the chance. It shouldnt take you about 20 sec to power down and about the same to power up a computer with an SSD drive for the OS. If your unplugging and moving your Omni elsewhere, is there a need to have the computer on anyway?

Personally, I would never make connections with anything powered on. For 1 reason, I hate to risk frying anything. For another reason, often the computer will not recognize the hardware until a reboot. Now leaving things connected and simply powering the OMNI on/off, might be okay(remember, I said "MIGHT") Who wants to be the guinea pig?

I leave my HDN card in all the time and turn my 16x16 on/off and might be using my 11 rack as an interface or even the asio4all driver.
