Default 888/24 with 192 I/O

I'm thinking of buying a 888/24 to add to the legacy port on my 192 to give 8 more ins and outs.
Has anyone encountered problems with this? We do mainly film work so 48Khz 24 bit is fine, but is this truely 24 bit?

The documentation is confusing, and I've read different model revisions have different capabilities.. It strikes me as a pretty cheap way of adding more outs - anyone got any other ideas - Lightpipe interfaces for example? - Thanks!

I have 2 888/24's running off of the legacy port of a 192. The only problem I get is at start up where the 192's start up is too quick for the 888/24's, so you have to go into hardware setup, take the 888/24's offline, and then re-assign them. One work-around is to start up the 192 first, then startup the 888/24's, but I'm too lazy to do that since I have them all hooked up to one off/on switch.
The 888/24's are truly 24 bit, yes, and they sound very good; not as good as the 192, but very good. Needless to say, most of my A/D is done w/ the 192, unless I'm cutting drums. I use a "digi digital card" in my 192 so I have 32 digital outs in all, feeding 2 Yamaha O2r's.
Have a great day.....

Can you run sessions at higher than 48k with the 888/24? If not, what happens when you try?
