Default can i install PTHD 7.4 and PT 8 on the same system?

Hi,
we would like to try out PT8 but keep our PT version 7.4 installed.

is this possible if we setup different user and have the different versions?installed in each.

I suppose i could install osx and PT8 on a firewire drive and boot from that, but its alot of effort....

No, I don't think you can run 7.4 and 8 from 1 disk, even with different users. Better use an extra disk (internal or external) to install a new OS X with PT 8.

Hi,

Best to clone your system drive using "carbon copy cloner" and install pt8 on the cloned drive and just boot up which ever system you want top run.

I have Tiger/PT7.4 on one partition and Leopard/PT8 on another partition of the main system drive.

I got there as others have suggested, using Carbon Copy Cloner to clone Tiger/7.4 to a external FW drive, and then reformatting the system drive to two partitions.

Install Leopard/PT8 on one, and clone back Tiger/7.4 to the other.

As a safety net, I always "eject" the boot up partition that is not in use to keep sneaky little files from finding there way around during plug-in installs, etc.
