Default Pause playback bug.... Was there a solution?

Hey all,

Just started getting the pause playback bug:

When closing a session and opening a new one, PT refuses to play at all, and 'pause' is written in green in the bottom left corner instead of 'play'

I know others have had this issue, but was there ever a solution? I've googled and seen many threads but none which seem to have any insight.

I reinstalled PT yesterday, trashed all preferences etc etc.

First time I opened the second session of the day this morning I got the pause problem.

PT then won't quit, and I have to force quit and restart.

Any thoughts on a cause of this?

I've been experiencing this also myself recently. I was wondering if it was just my system or if I had accidentally changed some setting. Another symptom on my end is that the system performance window shows almost no activity when this happens. I am wondering if an errant keyboard shortcut on my part is putting it into some sort of suspended state. I'm on PT 11.1.2, by the way.

As mentioned, a restart solves the problem, but it can happen several times a day. And other days, no problems at all.

Hoping to hear that a solution exists.

I've had this problem in the past with my Saffire Pro 40 unit. The solution was a driver update. Aside from that, changing the buffer size on the interface seemed to solve the problem, but is annoying.

Good luck.

Never seen this issue here. The only time Play doesn't go is when I accidentally enable Wait for Midi Note(the little clock face button on the transport section)

Soooo,

Thought I'd figured this out... But no....!

I think I may have had a corrupt audio file (which was infecting quite a few sessions because it was associated with the video file for the film I'm working on at the moment).
I deleted the movie file and re-imported video and associated audio.
I also selected all unused audio files in the clips window, and cleared them... System seemed better for a bit. But it was back to crashes again last night.

Film is done now (as of last night) so hopefully I'll escape any further problems caused by this particular setup, bit it would be good to pin down a cause.

It's not driver related (I don't think) as I'm using the latest Eleven Rack driver for Mountain Lion.

I'm wondering whether the instability might be as simple as just having too much loaded on a 32 bit system..? The crashes and pause problems I'm getting are with the session pretty full...

Maybe a little more system info will be helpful? Separate drives for system & PT's? PT's version etc...

PT version and OS as per my signature.
Drives are Samsung SSD for OS. Audio, samples and video each run on their own dedicated Velociraptors.

Pretty sure it's not drive related.

May well be RAM related though.... It seems pretty consistent that it's thread 0 which is crashing.

RAM passes Apple's hardware check, but I wonder if I have a RAM module which is on the way out... So hard to diagnose something like this, especially when in the middle of a project!

Sorry, sometimes I'm on my idevice and there are no sigs. Hmmm strange one, does changing the buffer sizes get rid of it? Are you using any different plugins? Is it possible to pull out pairs of ram to test? I can't see ram causing a 'play pause' issue.
