Default Upgrade from PT11 EDU to 12 / no longer Student

Hi,

I have owned a PT11 EDU license in 2013 and want to Upgrade to PT12 but am not longer a Student. Do I have to Buy a full new License, or does the normal Annual Upgrade Plan work for me?

Thx a lot!

Sorry that you didn't get a reply sooner!

A discounted upgrade is available from your Pro Tools 11 Bundle.

Default Pro Tools 11 Bundle - How to Upgrade?

Hello all,

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I the few posts I could find regarding my issue didn't give a consistent solution regardless of sameness in difficulties. Plus seeing all of the options available from Avid with such seeming redundancy is frying my brain.

I received a Student License for Pro Tools 11 with my tuition when I went to college (In my Avid Master Account Subscriptions, this version is called "Pro Tools 11.0 (No contract)" with "Licenses: Pro Tools 11 Bundle"). I have since graduated by a number of years, and I need to upgrade my macOS to a more modern version, none of which are compatible with Pro Tools 11 anymore.

Can I switch to a non-Student License without purchasing a new Perpetual License or new Annual Subscription? If I can indeed switch, to upgrade to Pro Tools 12 or 2018, which of the following do I have to purchase from my local Avid dealer?

-PRO TOOLS REINSTATEMENT PLAN - DOWNLOAD - $410CAD
-PRO TOOLS PLUG IN/SUPPORT ANNUAL - DOWNLOAD - $135CAD

Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm having the same issue. How do I access this upgrade? Is it available through Avid directly or do I get it through my Avid dealer?

Welp now I feel silly. Cheers! I had searched "upgrade" so every instance of the word was blue; didn't notice it was a link.

No worries at all

You can either buy from Avids website or from your dealer or as many members from Sweetwater.com as they have excellent customer service and a good knowledge for after care IMHO of course.

www.sweetwater.com

Let us know if you have any questions regarding this and hope to see you around here in the future. It is a great community with tons and tons of very competent members, everything from the bedroom tinkers ( music that is ) to Grammy winners so enjoy and take advantage when you need help.

Best

Just for absolute clarification before spending the bucks; the link above follows through to an Avid store listing for "Pro Tools Upgrade Reinstatement Plan".

To buy through my dealer, they have "PRO TOOLS REINSTATEMENT PLAN - DOWNLOAD" in their system at a higher price than on Avid's store.

My dealer also has "PRO TOOLS 1-YEAR SOFTWARE UPDATES & SUPPORT" at the same price listed on Avid's site. When I follow SweetWater's Pro Tools Upgrade Chart, I get "Avid 1-Year Updates + Support for Pro Tools Perpetual License Expired Plan" as the plan I'd be looking for.

This is where the confusion comes from.

Links to the items you are referencing might help, but basically Renewal (for current/active plans) is $99US and Reinstatement (for older versions or expired plans) is $299US.
