Default Import audio from other movie not working, what\'s wrong?

Today I was adding sound FX (from CD) to a post job and I was getting error messages using the import audio from other movie command.

The session is 48khz and 16 bit. I was trying to get sound FX off my Sound Ideas FX CD library.

I don't remember having this problem in PT 5.0.1
I am using PT 5.1.3 and OS 9.1

I ended up using Toast Audio Extractor to get around this problem (thanks to my friend Todd).

What gives?

HI
Personally I'd use toast for that anyway. I had loads of problems with the pt audio extractor. Clicks, pops etc
Sorry this doesnt directly answer your question

This is a known issue with 5.1.3 and is fixed in 5.1.3cs2. Download the update from http://www.digidesign.com/download/protools.html and let us know if you're still having problems.

Hey Digi, What's the deal? I never had this problem in 5.0.1, I never had to use a different program other than Pro Tools to import my FX CD files.

Is there bug and is there a fix?

Thanks.

Your session is at 48K.

Audio CD is at 44.1K

So you want you audio fromCD to play faster and at higher pitch?

I say that because I've never tried this in a session at a different sample rate. Does ProTools samplerate convert on the fly in the session?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">It won't play at a higher pitch if PT converts the file to 48K and that was the problem in 5.1.3. There was a bug that wouldn't allow it. I had been using iTools up to now. Great little FREE program that will import a 16/44.1 file to 48K. Something Toast Extractor will not do. While Toast gives more options, if I can't import a file into PT that has been extracted by Toast none of the options do me any good. While I'll probably go back to Toast, iTunes has served me well.

Thanks for the info Jordan.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">When you Import Audio, PT will convert audio that is at a different bit rate/sample rate and the current session and create new files. It cannot handle different sample rates at the same time.
