Weird Glitch Importing mp4: Pro Tools 10 on Windows 10
(I posted this in the Pro Tools 10 thread but no replies; but maybe this isn't Pro Tools 10 specific?)
I'm running the latest Windows 10 on a HP Pavilion laptop. I just bought a new camera (Lumix DC-FZ80) that records video in mp4. I'm trying to import videos to Pro Tools 10 but I'm running into a weird glitch: When I import a video into Pro Tools, at around the 10:30 mark in the video, the video jumps back to the beginning and plays from there. The total duration of the video clip doesn't change, which means that the end of the video is cut ~10.5 minutes short. Weirdly, this doesn't happen at exactly the same time: I have two videos, one is 14:48 long and the other is 21:03. the first cuts back to the beginning at around 10:28, while the second cuts back at around 10:32. But a shorter video, say 5 minutes long, works just fine. Anyone have any experience with this? Any ideas how to fix it? |

Re: Weird Glitch Importing mp4: Pro Tools 10 on Windows 10
PT 10 and Windows 10 is really stretching it. I had a video issue with PT 2020 and MP4, which used to import fine on previous versions of PT. Found Shutter Encoder and transcoded the MP4 to H264 and all was well. As always, YMMV.

Re: Weird Glitch Importing mp4: Pro Tools 10 on Windows 10
I'm now on the latest PT 2020.5 and the latest Windows update to 2004 and, with the Processor Affinity optimization (Core 0 and 1 unchecked with 8 cores - Hyperthreading on) I'm able to import and run MP4 videos again and PT is snappy at 64 buffer.

Re: Weird Glitch Importing mp4: Pro Tools 10 on Windows 10
Ive never personally had much luck with .264 in PT. I use Myffmpeg to convert everything to DHxHD via the stock preset, and it seems to work really well. (I mean, as well as video ever works in vanilla PT...)
Just did foley and sound design for a 15 min short using this method, and it went well.
