Default Pro Tools 11 stuck on "Initializing Audio Engine"

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit.
I installed it with the latest drivers for my ASUS mobo. I used Windows Update to make sure everything was up to date.

I then installed the drivers for my Presonus Firestudio Project and installed Quicktime and iTunes. Then I installed Pro Tools 11.1.1 using the files I downloaded from their website (and I installed all the codecs and drivers too).

Every time I try start Pro Tools, I get stuck on the "Initializing Audio Engine" part and nothing happens.

I tried uninstalling the drivers for my Presonus and re-installing (because I heard that might work) but it still isn't working.
I also held "N" when I opened Pro Tools and confirmed that it was trying to run it using the Presonus playback engine.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum

Did you delete preferences and dae folder aswell as volumes etc after installing PT11.1.1. Let is know if you need help with that or if you already done this.

Also do you have any virus software protection as that can be a hazzard for PT.

Also try this :
You need to go into the BIOS and disable any floppy drive and also go into Windows device manager and disable it even of you don't have ine installed this can interfere with PT running properly.

Best Regards
Christopher

Hi, and thanks! :)

I don't know exactly what folders you're referring to, so I don't know!

Read here and read my additional text in the first post, added info as you were typing.

Here is another thing you can try if the trashing of preferences doesn't do it.

Hmmm. There are no Pro Tools preferences folders or anything. It's my first time trying to run Pro Tools on my computer.

I turned off my antivirus software (Microsoft Security Essentials) and tried to run Pro Tools, but nothing new happened.

Also I'm a Pro Tools noob (as you can probably tell) so I'm hoping it's just something simple I'm missing.

Ok

Did you try disabling the floppy as I wrote?

I would maybe reinstall Pro Tools if this is persistant and see if that helps. You say there are no Pro Tools folders and you are sure you looked at the right places?

I don't think my computer has the option to disable a floppy drive. There's nothing in Device Manager relating to floppy drives. And not in the bios either.

Yeah I re-installed and tried again, but ran into the same problem.
Yeah, I looked in the right places. I think those folders will be created once Pro Tools actually runs...

Disabling the floppy drive(aka Drive A:) is done in BIOS

Hi again

Can you unplug your interface and try starting up PT without the interface and see if you can get PT to run at all.

When starting PT hold the N key down and choose the internal sound card and when you done this post back and let us know what happened.

Best of Luck
Christopher

When I unplug my interface and try to start Pro Tools, it says, "Unable to locate hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on."
