ProTools 12 "input" tab of i/o window everything is grey?

I cant do anything in the "Input" tab of the i/o window. Everything is grey, i cant even choose "default" as specified in all the forums and videos. When i start the session it says "inputs are missing" i go ahead with my i/o checklist but everthing is greyed out? Does anyone know whats going on? Im trying to record vocals as i always do but no input detected?

I forgot to mention that my interface is a focusrite scarlett solo, fully functional.

i replied in the other thread .. check that your playback engine is set for Focusrite and not something else ..

i have this happen with Soundflower and HDMI when using 2nd monitor ..

i am only going to reply in one thread .. this is silly to spread this across 2 threads ..

I apologize John! things are so crazy right now lets keep it on this thread, yes! the scarlett is selected as playback. Still everything is grey.

copy that .. and your Focusrite drivers are good and up to date ??

can you restart pro tools holding the "N" key please .. should allow you to choose your playback engine again ..

and do you have the pete gates PT PRefs Trasher app to toss your preferences ?? http://petegates.com

makes it easier to get rid of Prefs ...

Yes the drivers are all up to date, i can use the interface for internet audio and protools playback no problem, its just the input issue. Ive restarted protools with N down before, i did notice that instead of it saying focusrite scarlett once, there are now two options for the 1 interface. which is strange, i shouldve never updated my os yesternight. Downloading Petes app now in a last ditch attempt before i delete the whole program and reinstall
