The mother of all PT monitors--should I buy it??
I have been on the fence about this:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...W330-4710%20BX This is a 47" monitor that would mount on the wall ahead of me to replace my 32" LCD/TV. The resolution would jump from 1380 x 768 to 1920 x1080---and be larger, too! I'll be sitting about 8' - 9' back....using this as my only computer monitor instead of the 32" LCD and a 22" LCD on the wall to my left. What do you think? It's only $750! |

Good res and size, but I'd be concerned about being too far back.
Take your 32 and put it 6-7' away and maybe that'll give you an idea of what this 47 would look like?? |

Now that I think about it, I think I'd rather have a 2560 x 1600 30" display, closer to me than a 1920 8-9' away.
My current 23" Cinema Display is 1920 already and if/when I get a new monitor, the reason will be to see more not see things bigger. Just my 2 cents. |

A 2560 x 1600 30" is the way to go hands down. http://www.trustedreviews.com/monito...0in-Monitor/p1

Actually I'll be about 6ft away now that I think about it.... and the reason for this is to replace the current LCD/TV on the wall ahead of me with a bigger monitor is so that I don't depend on the 22" mounted on an arm to my left, it's kind of inconvenient. Please see photos here:

+1 for the 30". That's what I use (replaced 2 24") and I love it. It sits about arms length from me.

+1 for more pixels, they're more useful than bigger size. No comparison, more is more in this regard!

Re: The mother of all PT monitors--should I buy it??
I have the 40" version of the westinghouse and I compared it to the 47" a year ago when I bought. I am about 4' away from the monitor and it is perfect for my eyes. The 47" would have been too large and the pixels to big as well. The 40" at this resolution is better and also better than Apple's 30" which is too small for me. I use the 40" along side a samsung 24" which holds my plug-ins, transport, etc.. Works great and after a year usage, if I had to buy again I would get the same.
