Default question about the firewire 1814 and others

what exactly is the midi S/PDIF word clock to digital connector?

i'm looking into getting an mpowered system as the digi 001 is phased out and i want to have 8 I/O or more.
i also want midi I/Os as well. does the 1814 have this midi option? im unsure what the S/PDIF word clock to digital connector is.

can anyone reccomend a decent mpowered system that is equivalent to or better than the digi 001.

as of right now i am and have been using the mbox. i'm looking to upgrade to something that is less expensive than the digi 002 with 8 I/Os or more and midi I/Os.

i have a Powermac G5 dual 2.5 ghz. i gig of ram. PCIX. running the latest version of tiger.

i'm hoping pro tools 7 will work well with the dual G5.

thanks in advance everyone.

Hi,

It's basically just a break-out cable that has all of those connectors (Midi, SPDIF and BNC) via one connection.

The FW1814 is very similar to the 001 except it only has 4 line-outs while the 001 has 8.

Maybe you should download the manual and have a quick look around?

Good luck,

R.
