Default Workspace Browser and Elastic Audio

Hi folks,

I've just discovered how much of a 0huge difference using Waves Soundshifter and ZplaneAAX is in TC/E. So much cleaner than using the stock default settings, including X-form! I've done some A/B's and can't believe how bad the Avid ones are compared to Soundshifter and others.

For me, I use the Workspace Browser religiously in my projects...it is one of Protools' hidden gems for music production and I actually cant work without it.

Unfortunately, the TC/E settings in the preferences have not migrated over to the Elastic Audio settings (Metronome button) in the WS Browser, so we're still stuck with the crappy algorithms that sound horrible.

The workaround is previewing in Elastic Audio, then turning it off, and dragging into the timeline and then using TC/E to conform afterwards.

Does anyone else want that too or is it just me?

would be great if all could vote on this - https://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd...a-tab-comments

I just gave the ideal scale an upvote...

Would you be willing to share a bit about how you incorporate the workspace into your workflow? I’ve always intuited that it could be more useful to me, but have never managed to work it in. I generally only go there to relink files, or occasionally to look for a loop.

I find the interface for auditioning loops to be painfully clunky, compared to Logic, or Acid, which are the two programs I’ve used for this purpose.

Thanks for the Upvote and I'm happy to share my workflow!

I actually came from Logic and Ableton. The workspace browser keeps me from going back to Ableton Live. When I found out you could preview loops in time like Ableton, I jumped ship fully to ProTools to have that and the speedy editing of audio.

I have the workspace always open and its where I normally go for my 'tops' loops to fill out my drums. I normally pull in my Kicks and Snares from the Finder and start beat production that way (or in Kontakt).

Then while having the metronome button on, I can quickly browse my samples for things that working in the beat or little noises, just like Ableton!

It is a little clunky, but I'm always using the shortcuts to open the window. The other main issue is accidentally moving folders into other folders or deleting them. I know its user error but it keeps happening somehow. They should implement a 'lock' button to prevent this!
