Clock issues: 42.6,7 what? (Rail, DaBastaard?)
I have been using PT/001 to drive several digital devices in my studio including a digital board and additional converters. When I set my board to lock to the 001 by selecting it's optical output as the clock source I see a message that says:
DETECTED 42.6 If I leave this page up on the board the 42.6 fluctuates between 42.5 - 42.7. To begin with, where does 42.6 come from? Is that the right clock frequency? And why would it fluctuate? Shouldn't this be rock solid whatever it is? Could this be an indication of a crappy clock in the 001? Perhaps I need to lock to something else?

Hmm...what kind of board giving you this readout? Do you have a known good & solid digital device you could feed into it, just to check ? Quote:
good luck,

What is the correct frequency for the optical clock?

44,100 or 48,000 - on an 001 - that's it, those are the ONLY 2 readings you should get.
Make sure Pro-tools is fully booted, and that it's set at Internal, when you're checking the settings on other devices slaving off your 001.

Re: Clock issues: 42.6,7 what? (Rail, DaBastaard?)
44.1 is what it should read, and it should be stable... definately an issue here...
However, I noticed that on the board, optical 1-8 and 9-26 are on the same 'module 1' (module 2 is 17-32) although they are attached to two devices (1-8=001, 9-16=ADA converter). So whenI set sync to optical module 1, which device is it syncing to? The ADA is set to slave and registers 'lock' so I am assuming the 001. However, I noticed that the 42.5 went back to 44.1 after powering down the ADA and then resetting the sync mode, then turning on 9-16. I am watching this one closely...

Are you sure the slave knows it's supposed to be slave, and the master knows it's supposed to be master?

Re: Clock issues: 42.6,7 what? (Rail, DaBastaard?)
Yes. The digi is set to internal and the ADA shows slave locked.
