Track won't play anymore

Weird thing ... a track of mine has just started refusing to play. No changes made that I'm aware of. This morning it played. Now it doesn't. If I click 'play' or press the spacebar, the same thing happens - the 'play' button lights up momentarily, then the 'stop' button lights up, the cursor jumps to the beginning of the song and that's it. Nothing else.

Then when I try to close the session, it takes ages and ages, finally ending on 'closing drums' which never terminates. I have to force quit. All other tracks are unaffected, and all play normally and exit normally.

I've tried deleting the drum track. No difference.

Any ideas? I'm running PT 11 on MacOs 10.10

If you make all tracks inactive, are you able to play? Yes, I realize that you will hear nothing. If you can play with all tracks inactive, then there is at least one track in your session that is corrupt.

I'd check your audio interface is on the right sample rate. I've had what you're describing happen before and it was pretty much because the playback engine couldn't operate. It was trying to put it on the right sample rate for the session but the interface was locked to another sample rate (due to external clocking or another application -- web browser with video -- on the system setting it to a different sample rate)
