Default MBox 2 Pro does not work with iMac 3.2 i3 27"

Got a severe problem connecting the Digidesign MBox 2 Pro with the 27" iMac i3 3.2 Ghz.
I bought a Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 connector and the green lamp is blinking, but the iMac can´t find the MBox 2 Pro. The MBox is also blinking, if only connected to the iMac and not with the Power supply.

I also connected the MBox 2 Pro with the same cable to my MacBook Pro 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo and everything is running as it should be.

I am running ProTools 9.0.3, SL 10.6.7 and the latest core audio drivers for MBox 2 Pro.

What could the failure be???
