Simply put; here's the deal.

- If there is no upgrade path from pack v1 then I'm not going to buy that pack again even if it says v2.
- If there is an upgrade path, I'm going to upgrade immediately.

Now AIR, do you want my upgrade money or not?

+1 but I'm already planning to sell my license. But will be looking to see if AIR clarifies about 1.x, because their site isn't really saying anything. And Mr Duane Morris' email reply to me put the kibosh on v2 having upgrade path or pricing at all.

Argh. I did reach out to Russ & the gang @ PTExpert's Facebook page to see if they know anything or can find out.

Yeah which really bytes b/c - we own those assets - I paid for mine - and they have them locked out of my ilok account - how is that even legal ???

I don't have Hybrid anymore - velvet I use a lot - structure of course

How about I sell them back to in-music

Same here - I only use Structure and Velvet. Whilst the transition back from Avid now appears to not have included existing customers (i.e. just the technology, brand, etc.), surely, AIR's 'kickstart' was going to come from existing users ... and wasn't it stated somewhere that V1 would be a free upgrade to 64-bit? This had had me thinking of the V2 upgrade (details on Pro Tools Expert - Velvet gets a Pianet) - just waiting for price ... but now, apart from deciding whether to keep for old sessions or go through the hassle of bouncing these tracks and sell, one would have to be particularly keen on their synths/transfuser not to jump ship and move to Komplete??!!

Still not clear if AIR are also launching VST/AU but, if so, they appear to be planning to start their journey in the big, wide, non-PT world by alienating the only people who have any affiliation/history with them. First, remove the drag/drop for Structure/Transfuser, now this ... sounds like they go to the same management school as Avid :)

As this has all been based on a few words from a CS representatitive, maybe we should follow up and get these validated first?! You never know, maybe it's going to be a cheap upgrade e.g. $50?!

So, Wizzoo (or whatever was their original brand name before) will be finally dead for me. Too many product I bought in last 12 years are dead: VG, Vb and others they made for Steinberg, they killed now PTIEP 1 with no update for AAX 64...

No way I will buy PTIEP 2, period. There many other solutions from other companies and I'll give my "AIR” - read: money - to them.

Having just re-read kaiserpathos' initial 'transcript' of conversation with the AIR CSR, it appears that a free AAX64 version is not ruled out for those of us with 'V1' (as previously stated would be available for free). In which case, the 'news' is that there will not be special upgrade pricing to V2 for us - so we would be able to open our old sessions in PT11 but have to pay for the new IEP features/improvements.

To be fair, with AIR already having already revealed what will be included, a 'high' e.g. £400 price (like Komplete) will be a tough sell ... but maybe they will position IEP below NI at a level which could be a good value? Still, with no upgrade pricing, existing/V1 users will be getting less value (as we would have to pay the full cost for just the improvements) than new V2 buyers ... which seems odd as that will likely end up with our $ going elsewhere!

It just seems like they're saying: for us to to use old sessions w/ IEP instruments in PT11 we must buy pack v2.0. That 2.0 will be the only IEP w/ AAX64 compatibility.

I was warming to that concept, but then when Mr Morris "Customier Success Specialist" said there would be NO upgrade path/pricing for pack v1 owners it left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.

It seems all we are left is: IF 2.0 is logically positioned to be cheaper than NI Komplete, hop quickly onto any Intro/promo pricing when it launches. And in the meantime, any folks not interested in PT11 for awhile can buy our v1 IEPs cheap.

But even then PT10 & under users may still prefer v2 as it can do VST/AU via Rewire or VEP. This whole thing stinks!
