Pro Tools U 2019.12 - AVE - Crashing when switching apps (w10)

Hi Fellow PTers

Over the break, I put together a w10 Pro tools U 2019.12 rig.
The AVE crashes every time I change/switch apps.

workflow:
Bounce to QT (DNxHD) .mov
open handbrake or MPEG Streamclip to convert to mp4 (send to the client).
AVE crashes.
Restart PC to reinstate AVE.

It's driving me nuts. Anyone else having this issue?
any thoughts on how to fix?
