Default Digital Distortion in Left Channel output of 002

G5 Dual Core 2 MHz
System and Recording Drives
1 GB Ram
Fresh install
10.4.2 and PT7.0

I am getting some High Frequency distortion in my left speaker channel. I thought that I blew a tweeter, I changed speakers and the problem continued. The distortion is happening in the headphone out on the digi 002 also. I just reinstalled all software the the problem is still happening. What in the world could this be?

Thanks for your help

I wanted to add that I just upgraded to PT 7.1 and OS 10.4.5. It is not the speakers as I have swapped them out in every combination. I have re-initialized my system drive and re-installed PT. It is coming out distorted in the left channel of both the headphone out of the 002 and the monitor out. I have tried different sessions and used good tracks with no plugins. When the track is panned right it sounds fine, but from the left there is a High Frequency distortion or clipping. Maybe something is wrong with the 002 unit?
Any help will be appreciated.

Do you think resetting the G5 with the PMU button is a good idea? I have tried just about everything else.

Thanks

Was the system ok with previous version of PT?
If so, try to trash ALL digi preferences & repair permissions.

It started doing it with 7.0cs5. I reinstalled 7.0 and it still did it, the upgrade to 7.1 didn't help. I will try to trash everything again, but when I reinstalled 7.0 I did that.
Thanks for your help.

I called digi today and they said it sounded like a hardware problem. I am replacing the 002 with a refurb unit. Thanks for the help.
