Default Pro Tools is beating up my system

I have Pro tools Native 10.3.7 on a PC.

I have a song using a fair amount but not a ridiculously high amount of plugins at the highest buffer setting. The song is stuttering occasionally and the MIDI timing is off at times.

Are there any suggestions as to settings, etc, that might help?

I'm using Uaudio and Waves plugins, mostly.

Well it looks like the culprit was Ivory piano. I turned off the sustain resonance, which is a real processor hog, and now all is well.

A helpful tip may also be to bouce your MIDI down to audio once your editing is done. This will free up some of that CPU power

Recording MIDI playback to audio tracks definitely will allow you to save CPU power. I do this regularly as a basic part of my mixing process.
