Default ProTools 8.0.3 doesn't recognize keyboard

Help! I have just launched ProTools 8.0.3 SE and I was hoping to test out my synth keyboard with the program, but for some reason it's not recognizing it. I am using an old Yamaha DX7 Algorithm Synthesizer and have it hooked up (midi) to a Roland JV-1010 synthesizer module for more sounds and effects, and then plugged a cable from that box to my MobilePre interface. I see that the interface recognizes the sound (the little light blinks when I hit a key on the keyboard) but it doesn't show up on ProTools. What could be the reason for this? Does it have anything to do with the fact that it's a MIDI keyboard? Maybe I plugged the cable in the wrong input? I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.. Please help! Thanks
