Default Audio and Video question

I edit video in Premire Pro and was wondering if the discussions about keeping video and audio on different drives is only if you are using video in Pro Tools? Does it matter if my Premiere video files and Pro Tools audio files are on the same drive? I just bought a 250 GB Lacie SSD External (Thunderbolt)

Default Re: Audio and Video question

in many situations it is ok to have audio and video on same drive
(depends also what kind of videocodec/datarate)

BUT : if you want a "snappy" system , have many audiotracks and/or
are recording with video (adr) its highly recommended to have seperate drives for video and audio.

btw a thunderbolt hd doesnt help a lot , limiting factors are here access time (7200rpm hd recommended)
and datarate of the HD , NOT THE iNTERFACE.

No.
The issues with audio and video on the same disk has to do with PT accessing both at the same time.

Actually having a thunderbolt interface for the drive does help quite a bit. I have two of the same model drive; one runs on Firewire 800 and the other runs on Thunderbolt. I actually get faster data transfer on the thunderbolt drive than the FW800 drive.
