Default Avid, Please Allow Multiple LLM Outputs for HD Native!

I started an ideascale campaign here:
http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/...ms/212258-3779
I'm sure this is something all of us HDN users could use and I definitely miss it. Please vote if you agree!
Thanks!

Except that this is DSP dependent which is why it's an HDX thing. While I would love it I'm not sure it's possible.

It seems that this is a pretty standard feature for non-Avid interfaces. Also, HDN already supports one low latency cue mix... why not several?

Just put my vote...
Not holding my breath though.
LLM would be very important for me, but it seems that sub 3ms latency WITH external converters is basically impossible without HDX. And I don't see Avid opening hand of such a profitable selling option.
Have been looking at alternatives, but to no avail...yet...
Z.

i don´t understand.

if you want near 0-latency monitoring is done in the soundcard DSP Mixer,
all Professional sound cards have that.
Lynx, RME, UAD Apollo, even low budget E-MU 1820m has a decent DSP Mixer.

in the old days, it was a real mixer.

Steinberg had a thing called DM DirectMonitoring, that allows the software to control the Hardware DSP Mixer, and audio does not enter the ASIO driver/world.

ASIO Direct Monitoring (since ASIO 2.0) allows the DAW to remote control the DSP mixer in the interface hardware regarding volume, panning and routing - as long as the interface ASIO driver and hardware supports this.

But I'm pretty sure we won't see PT getting ASIO DM support - it would eat into their HD/HDX sales as non-HD direct monitoring would become even less cumbersome.

Heck, we don't even get more than 32 working I/O with non-HD interfaces... so any MADI interface can only be used on the first 32 channels instead of all 64 - highly annoying.

Put out a HDN v2 and give me a deal on the upgrade

Better latency specs and more LLM Out's (if that really the restriction)

Might be something to do with some electronics they've put in the box to allow headphone output? If so, there might be nothing they can do about the request, except releasing MkII box that has more capabilities (such as being able to use it without interface connected, only headphone ouput, that's what I would really love...)

Because there is one DSP chip on the HDN card whose sole purpose is that one LLM stereo cue mix. At least that's my understanding. If you look at pictures of HDN and HDX cards it looks like the HDN is a portion of the HDX card without the DSP chassis.

I used the Cubase Direct Monitoring way back in the VST days. It's essentially inputs before the encoding stage. Not sure multiple cue mixes were available there at that time.
