Default Help. Rec Issue with PT 8.1

When a hit record there is a 6 to 10 sec lang before recording starts. i've tried everything i can think of. Any suggestions out there? i even tried the ProTools_Prefs_&_Database_Helper but either i did not use it right or it did not help with the issue.

thanks robbie

Do you have 2 Bars enabled in the transport? Another suggestion - try setting your Open Ended Record Allocation to something like 10 minutes.

Default 2 bars

I think it is on however how do i turn it off?
i'm going to be embarrassed if it's that easy. however i was always suspicious of the 2 bar thing but could never figure out how to disable it.

thanks
robbie

if you go to the window menu and open the larger transport, you just deselect the count in button. If you don't see it, click the arrow on the right of the transport window and select midi controls. If the count off button is lit, click it to turn it off. Also are you using a separate HDD for audio? Using only the OS drive can cause PT to start slow and work sluggish and unpredictable.
