Hi,
If you read the Digidesign compatibility page in the support section of their website you'll find that the G5 is not compatible or approved for any ProTools system.

Somehow I thought it didn't relate to USB products. There's no mention of it not working...

From the Mbox compatibility page:

Quote:
Supported CPU Models, Speeds & Requirements*

Power Macintosh G4 (AGP graphics)
Apple PowerBook G4
iBook ("Ice White" Dual-USB Models)
iMac G4 (LCD Flat Panel Models)
Note that the G5 is NOT mentioned - it is NOT currently supported.

Currently the G-5 doesn't support or run anything Protools.

the AMIII hardware is not compatible with G5, as the Digi001 Hardware is not compatible.

As of now, Pro Tools software is not compatible with OS 10.2.7 or 10.3

Software issues can and probably will be resolved, the hardware issues cannot (unless someone gets creative with adapters or expansion chasses (chassises? chassis' ? chassies? )

I don't speak for digi, jusat specualating)
