Default NEED HELP! Computers being VERY stubborn.

Hey all, I have a 002R with a Focusrite ISA428 with the digital card. I have both set at 24 bit/44.1, and the 002 clock source set to ADAT. Recently I have been getting A LOT of clicks from any tracks with an ADAT input. During play back I will also get a loss connection error message, or a buffer underflow error message. I have the buffer up as high as it goes, and the computer useage at 99%. These errors come up every few seconds during play back, making it impossible to get a solid day or recording done. Anything I can do?? Something that might be set wrong? I didn't have these problems until after I disconnected my ISA428 and then reconnected it. I did nothing different though. I'm using a small HOSA optical cable. (the monster ones don't fit in the ADAT ins/outs) Mac 2ghz G5 with Tiger. PTLE 7.

thanks

Try a different lightpipe cable. Maybe you damaged it when you unplugged it. Power the ISA 428 on first, then 002 and drives, then mac.

I guess I'll pick up a new one today and try it out.

I was always told to turn my drives on first, then isa, then interface, then mac...but I don't think this would be the problem considering its how I've always done it and I haven't always had problems.

Also, it SEEMS that these problems only really start up (especially the error messages) until later in the session, after the gears been on for a few hours.

richsorr,

is the 428 still under warranty? If so, get something on file with Focusrite as soon as.

I love my ISA428, but the A-D card was bad out of the box! I had trouble from the get go and thought it was a bad optical cable, but not so. Focusrite replaced the card no questions asked, and it's been sweet ever since.

This unit does a great job of heating up the studio too! I have an empty 1U space above and below it in the rack. Heat shouldn't be your problem, but....

maccool.

Yes, it's still under warranty. My First card was bad outta the box too! I'm gonna grab a new cable to check that out first, if I still get problems I guess I'll have to make a call. And yes, that box gives off a bunch of heat, I too have a 1U space open under it, except I have my little Joe Meek c2 sitting in the corner of it. Having that thing in a small room with a bunch of people sucks after a few hours
