Hi Dism, the pre-monitor option is great, if only AVID would let us use it by adding a "software input monitor on/off" function in PT9. As is now, even with faders un-linked, us saffire 56 users cant take advantage of our super cool pre-monitoring feature properly.

See this post: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=307309

Also,

Let me explain my question further. On my current rig (Windows 7/Pro Tools 9.0.3/Digi 002R Black Lion) I track at buffer 64 and listen through plugs as I go. This is working great and is an acceptable amout of latency (I really don't even hear any...). I am considering replacing the 002R with a Saffire 56, but have a couple of concerns:

1. Will a Saffire 56 cause any additional round-trip latency than a 002R does? I'm asking if the two hardware units differ at all re latency. I usually think in terms of software latency, but what about hardware latency?

2. Does the Saffire 56 Mix Control software add any latency?

3. Any problems with the current Windows 7 drivers for the Saffire 56?

That is:

1. latency rig 1: Windows 7/ProTools 9.0.3/Digi 002R

- vs-

2. latency rig 2: Windows 7/ProTools 9.0.3/Saffire 56

Thanks !!!

1. No.

2. No.

3. Not that I'm aware of. The latest MixControl drivers are very stable and well suited for Pro Tools.
