Default Newbie needs help or a gun

First Post and Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!
I am trying to get a simple little system going for just laying down some guitar and a few keyboard tracks.
I have always recorded analog, via reel to reel and and have used a few cheap(Roland/Tascam) all in one digital units.
I know this is not much of a system, I have a G4 MDD with dual 867 PowerPC G4 (2.1)

OS X 10.4 11

1.75 GB DDR SDRAM (plan to bump to even 2 GB or higher?)
80 gig HD (plan to buy outboard HD)

MBox 2 mini
PT LE 7.4 (10.4)

I can't even get the G4 to recognize the PT LE 7.4 disk.
My optical drives work fine, I can watch the PT video.
I bought this machine from a composer that had a PT HD system on it, and various other software, that I thought I dumped most of it.
Is this system even worth trying to make work?
I just want something to small to start with, one track at a time.
I bought a 48 ch Pro Contol board with the edit pack and basically everything I needed but the computer. It was way to big and way more than I could ever use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

You need to have your drivers and make sure your drivers are qualified for that OS and for that interface

Thanks for the reply, what drivers do I need? I assumed the PT LE 7.4 disk was plug and play. Avid shows this OS is compatible with the interface. (I think)
I load the LE 7.4 and the drive does not even spin. DVD's play fine.

Well do u have an avid account ? - then u could download the software onto ur computer w/o a disk drive - some of those disk back then had major issues - MPTK2 and PT8 had known disk issues - my PT7 disks installed fine

Look up the compatibility for PT7 and make sure - 10.4 will run it. Seems like it but u don't wanna be chasing ur tail - all drivers should load for the mbox2 during that software install -

What part of Texas ? Just south of Austin here -

No Avid acount, bought the MBox used in mint condition with the box annd all disks. I thought for sure that the Avid site said it would work.
I know the G4 is a old machine, but I just only want to really lay some guitar tracks to practice to and play with my EMU modules.
Money is tight now, but if I am pisssing in the wind, I will dump this crap and go to a 003 and a new PC.
I am a native from Houston living in ATL ready to move back to H Town.
Thanks again!

First of all you are in the m-powered forum and you're talking about PTLE. And while it's been a while I do believe 10.4.11 and 7.4 are compatible. Also installing PTLE will install the drivers for all PTLE interfaces that are compatible with that version.

So all you need is a way to install the software and an authorization code. It will ask for it after you first run the software. Hope that helps.
