Default how do U merge sessions w/different frame rates???

hey guys,

I've got one session that was recorded at 44.1 with a frame rate of 25 (logic audio default) and another session that is 48k with a frame rate of 30 at another studio. I'm not to worried about the sample rate conversion but not sure what to do about the frame rate. Ideally I need to get the 48k session w/30 frame rate into the 44.1 session with 25 frame rate. At this point both sessions are in pt.

Any ideas???

thanks,

ej

Are these sessions locked to video? If they are just music sessions, then just import one into the other at the sample rate you want to work in and change the frame rate. (It would probably sound better converting the 48k session down to 44.1).

If you are locked to video, then you have to deal with the NTSC->PAL conversion, of which there is another lengthy thread currently in the Post & Surround forum you may want to look at.

You are talking about strictly audio sessions, right? If so, do not worry about the frame rates. As long as you resolve the differences with the sample rates, the frame rates will not matter as long as you have a sync point on both sessions. Remember that in strictly digital audio the “speed” the audio is running is the sample rate. The frame rate is simply a labeling system. (Okay, when resolving two machines together it’s not that simple, but we’re not talking about that here...) When you import tracks from a session with a different frame rate, but same sample rate, you can simply drag the imported audio into sync.

If this is supposed to sync to video, well, ignore everything I just said!
