Default About the Isobox concept...

Hi,
i am looking for a solution to lower the noise in my mixing room. The only one responsable is the Mac G5 2x2,5 gHz. Unfortunaly, i am not able to built a machine room - which i know for sure would be the only best solution. My room is well air-conditionned, the noise of the G5 is at its minimum nearly all the time. But it's still too loud : i am looking for having a nearly perfect silence. For months, i navigate through all these "IsoBox" style box on the net ( ISOBOX, gCAB, SILENT CASE, KEODA, ... ) but i have just one question : all these products are specified to reduce noise about between 25 and 30 dB, but what are their own noise level ? If they have the same ammount of fan noise level than the G5 at its lower level fan noise, there is no interest.
Thanks to help me finding a solution. Mixing in a lower noise level is better than buying a new compressor lol...
Regards.

You will find it much cheaper to replace the fans in the G5 for silent/quieter ones. For the sheer cost of Isoboxes there is lots that can be done to reduce the computer noise first.

Thanks for the answer...
I really thought that the original fans of the news G5 were already the quietest ones.
Can you post me some links about the quietest fans for PPC Mac G5 2x2,5 gHz ?
Regards.

I went through all the research myself a few years ago. I think you're much better off just getting the computer out of the room. Spend the money you would spend on an isobox and invest in USB and Dvi extenders. For further distances you can go with more expensive Ethernet extension boxes.

For those of you with only a single room to mix in, or for those of you in a completely console-less environment, we have the AudioLot CRC furniture which includes two ISO boxes with a massive decrease in db including cooling and full cable management.

There is a video and pictures on our website if you're interested in taking a look. Here's a link:
