Avid has their own knowledgebase. If people cannot use forum search, knowledgebase search or even Google search, there is not much to be done.

And yet here is another thread asking the same question that seems to be asked on a weekly basis in some form or another.

What’s better? A FAQ and moderation that points the user to all the answers in a central location or countless threads that cloud the forum potentially preventing other threads getting the attention they deserve? The latter probably also makes searching more difficult.

If no FAQ, then perhaps stronger moderation directing the users to the Knowledgebase.

You would be amazed to find out how many of my posts are like this:

Hi, welcome to the community.

Please read the Help Us Help You document linked to the forum header
There is a FAQ by the way, here. Not much better than forum search, but that is besides the point. As long as people don't take one second to search what they want to find, what's the value of a FAQ no matter how good it is? It seems to be always easier to ask the same question over and over again.

Remind me to never raise my hand to moderate a forum. =P

Recommend to the OP to switch DAWs, like someone else mentioned, I would consider Logic Pro X. It will run on most older Macs I would assume. You could get a new mac mini and it should work fine. Another option is to run Garage band, although I've never used that DAW. I imagine it is Logic Pro X lite. Garage band is so easy on your CPU it should run flawlessly.

It is indeed like Logic Pro X lite. You'll be surprised how much comes with GarageBand, virtual amps, virtual instruments and the like. These sound great to my ears, certainly not second rate at all. If you're more of a musician/songwriter it could be all you need but my guess is if you run Pro Tools you might be more engineer/producer?

Either way, GarageBand plays nicely with the CPU until you load it up with plugins

Plus it won't cost you a penny.

exact this is what I don't like.
its so f....ing untrustworthy !

Waves does it right. you can buy a WUP any time you want and you don't have to pay for long periods where nothing happened in the software for you (like the last year with PT :)

Hey Avid, please stop this "continious force" where we have to buy update fees without any reason and can not make a break in the subscription.
