Not really PT related, but need help...
I just built an Intel Core Duo Quad. I have that machine as well as an old 800Mhz browser machine in a closet. I had been using a PS/2 KVM switch to use the same monitor, keyboard and mouse with my old Tyan Quad (which had PS/2 ports). My new Quad does not have PS/2 ports. So I bought some PS/2 to USB adapters and the problem is that my mouse will lose connection spontaneously, then mysteriously regain connection after a period of time. Here's another thing...the mouse is a USB mouse, which I have hooked up via a converter into the KVM, while the keyboard is PS/2. So if I plug the mouse directly into the new Quad, it seems to work just fine. I need to be able to switch between the computers, however, and I can't do that if the mouse is directly plugged into one machine. Should I try a PS/2 PCI card for the new quad? Since I already have extra long KVM cables (and the KVM switch itself) I would rather not have to buy another KVM switch. Need advice. Thanks!
