I'm on Win 10, and find 2019.10 very smooth here.

Hi.
"Never change a running system" although I usually love being up to date.
But this time: Pls. check the thread http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p...25#post2544325 and decide then.
I tried to update, it did not work, and the PT 2019.6 also doesn't work anymore. As you say, you will have to work a lot with it, - - ahem - - I wouldn't give it a try. Maybe they fix this, then I'll try, and find this post and report. Ok?

Thanks all. Wire57 - sounds horrendous. I'm actually on Windows 1803 so hopefully wouldn't get caught up in it, but it doesn't inspire confidence, does it?

Please don't tell me you're still on Win 10 1803. Support to end THIS month.
Please urgently update, culmulative to 1909.
But wait about updating PT. They haven't replied to my last message about failure, so I just don't know what to do. When I don't hear anything until Nov. 21st, I shall disrupt my subscription, and if there's nothing new, I will put PT totally aside. I didn't love PT too much anyway, it was 2nd. choice after the Cakewalk catastrophe 2 years ago.

Hmm, that is a scarier prospect than updating PT for me, I have read a ton of stuff about problems with the next update but hopefully they're fixed now? I've not done anything beyond "defer feature updates" though, so I'll always get any update they force on me before support goes.

I don't use Windows, but have heard the next update should be right around the corner. So if I was (even thinking of) using Windows I would wait until that is out.

Actually I think the reverse might be true, at least if they forced an update to the latest version when time comes that I can't hold off any longer. I definitely like to be several months behind the big releases to let all the dust settle and iron out the bugs.

I mean, I have heard bad word about 1909 so it is sensible to skip it. But once the next one comes available just go for it. But as I said I don't use Windows so this is just logical thinking (good guess).

Ah yes I see... thanks. I'll wait for now anyway and keep my ear to the ground.
