Default ProTools 9 is still saying it cannot find any digidesign hardware.

Hi folks. Need a bit of help here.

Just installed PT9 crossgrade. Got my iLok and my license on it, inputted the serial code from my digi002 rack and got through all those stages.

When I try load up PT9 it says it cannot locate digidesign hardware.

Why is this happening?! I thought PT9 did not require any official hardware?!

This has been an extremely long process; backing up old sessions, putting Windows 7 on a partitioned drive with PT9 installed onto it.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

When you uninstalled PT 8 or your previous version, did you use the Avid uninstaller (or Digi), or Windows uninstaller? You may have to go in and bomb the rest of the PT files other than your sessions because sometimes all of the old files don't get removed.

Or does the installation of the crossgrade require it sees the previous version? I don't know.

I think this is the drive issue they've been talking about in the PT 9 section.

Another thing you can try is.... you have 30 days free telephone tech support IIRC. Use it. I think if you call them around 8:00 pm your time you'll catch them. Try via Skype or something like that so it doesn't cost you. At least you have the luxury of the support staff speaking English.

Hiya.

About two seconds after I posted this I worked out the problem.

It wasn't asking for digidesign hardware but any hardware. It appears that only Mac can run off the onboard soundcard (Core Audio) whereas I need some interface attached for working with windows.

If this isn't the case and I can run PT9 using my onboard laptop soundcard I would love to know how.

As it stands I am waiting on a macbook pro as my system is not suitable for running large sessions.

Thanks anyway Julia,

b
