Default Opening Digital Performer Sessions in Pro Tools?!?

Does anyone have any experience with converting a DP3 session to a PTLE Session? I am not even sure if it's possible. I know MOTU and Digidesign are like development partners or whatever, so does that mean there is an easy way to transfer back and forth? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's possible. You need to make it an OMF file as the interim format. I just read something in EQ magazine about it.

It is possible, but I'm afraid PC's can't deal with OMF, it was created for Macs; I may be wrong (hopefully), if someone has more infos about this please chime in. Unfortunately that seems to be the only way, since Digi isn't supporting the AES 31 file exchenge format just because of OMFI.

Cheers

Gerax

That is not correct, PTLE 5.3.1 can import OMF just fine. Unfortunatly though, this requires the purchase of Digitranslator, and at 500$ this may seem a bit expensive. You can install a fully functional 15-day demo though, so if this is a one-off transfer it will work for free.

If you are running PTLE 5.3.1 on XP, the demo is included with the installer. Just run the PTLE 5.3.1 setup file and select "advanced" installation. Now you should be able to check the option labelled Digitranslator.

Running the installer will not change anything besides enabling Digitranslator.
