DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
I know this has been discussed on a previous post, but after recording vocals today, I also noticed that aside from the clicks that occur at the end of a region, a vocal splat will occur as well. I had to edit all the ends of the regions to fix the problem.
I'm assuming this is being looked after. Digi tech's, if you can confirm this, at least I know I'm not losing my mind! Thx Dean

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
Dean,
Does the problem go away if you turn off ADC? We are trying to gather configuration information on systems that have this problem. Can you post your system details and list your installed plug-ins? I have had one user report he ran a program called Cocktail that cleaned out his caches, cron scripts, pre binded his system, after which he repaired permissions. After this the problem went away. I an not familiar with the Cocktail but it may be something you want to look into. Thanks in advance for the information about your system . Digidesign Tech Support |

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions
I'm the one that used Cocktail but the problem has returned. It does go away if you stop "using delay compensation".
Here is what I was running. Midi - Plugsound rtas plug - Stereo Audio track using Ableton Live as plug RTAS - Guide Vocal using UA LA2A & C4. Had a few loud clicks when punching out of the vocal takes...2 times. Just happened to re record the vocal guide track, no punching this time and no click at the end. The only absolute difference I remember is that I had a mono aux track running with the digi click plug when we did the first guide vocal. That track was deleted before doing the second. That was the only change between having and then not having the problem. All the plugs I had in my digi plugin folder were: WaveShell-DAE 5.0 VW_Slayer2_FX.vst VW_Slayer2.vst VW_Obsession.vst VW_Drummer.vst VW_Cocktail.vst VocAlignASX UAD LA2A X UAD 1176SE X UAD 1176LN X Trim Trilogy.dat Trilogy RTAS OSX TimeBlender|HD 1.5 (OSX) TimeAdjuster Time Comp-Exp-Pitch Shift Stereo Mixer Speed|HD 1.5 (OSX) SonyOxfordEQ_OSX SonyOxfordDynamics_OSX Signal Generator Reverse-DC Removal Reverb One PSP VintageWarmer PS02 - Fretted.dat PS02 - Fretted RTAS OSX PS01 - Keyboards.dat Pro-53 RTAS PitchBlender|HD 1.5 (OSX) Pitch Ping-Pong Delay Phoenix 2.02 Kontakt RTAS Invert-Duplicate Focusrite d3 Focusrite d2 FM7 RTAS Carbon Flanger FilterFreak 1.0.2 Fairchild™ 660 EQ II Echo Farm PhaseMistress 1.0 Normalize-Gain Change Multi-Tap Delay VW_Percussionist.vst Moog Modular V Mod Delay II minimoog V Maxim MachFive RTAS OSX Lounge Lizard 2 RTAS X BFD RTAS OSX B4 RTAS Carbon Amp Farm Click Chorus Dynamics II Dither DigiReWire D-Verb-AS D-Verb CS-80V Altiverb™ HTDM PS01 - Keyboards RTAS OSX AmpliTube Absynth RTAS Auto-Tune 4 TDM (OSX) I do hope this helps some how. Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
Digi,
What I would like to know is what is technically happening between the recording of a region(s) and stopping the transport when ADC is enabled. Cuz its gotta be something with the way ADC works. Does ADC mess with the clock syncronization instantaneously when going from recording to stopping? Because I do have the 192i/o clocked to an Aardsync and the spike looks and sounds like a digital clock error. But the fact that it is actually IN the audio file AND its consistently about 60 samples from the end of the region is perplexing. Have you guys been able to reproduce this in a base session with no 3rd party software and only digi rack plugins? MT

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
Digi-
ADC is On, and I haven't tried it with it off yet. As per your request, here's a list of plug-ins in my folder: SonyOxfordEQ_OSX Amp Farm AmpliTube LE Atmosphere RTAS OSX Atmosphere.dat Auto-Tune 4 TDM (OSX) B4 RTAS Carbon BF Essential Clip Remover BF Essential Correlation BF Essential Meter Bridge BF Essential Noise Meter BF Essential Tuner BFD RTAS OSX bombfactory BF-3A bombfactory BF76 Chorus Click Cosmonaut Voice D-Verb D-Verb-AS DigiReWire Dither Dynamics II EQ II Flanger Focusrite d2 Focusrite d3 Funk Logic Mastererizer Impact Indigo Invert-Duplicate JOEMEEK Compressor JOEMEEK Meequalizer LoFi MachFive HTDM OSX MachFive RTAS OSX Maxim MDW EQ Mod Delay II moogerfooger Lowpass Multi-Tap Delay Normalize-Gain Change Phoenix_2.06OSX Ping-Pong Delay Pitch Purple Audio MC77 RectiFi Reverb One Reverse-DC Removal SampleTank SE SansAmp PSA-1 SciFi Signal Generator Stereo Mixer Stylus RTAS OSX Stylus.dat Surround Mixer T-RackS EQ Tel-Ray Delay Time Comp-Exp-Pitch Shift TimeAdjuster Trilogy RTAS OSX Trilogy.dat Trim UAD 1176LN X UAD 1176SE X UAD LA2A X URS A Series EQ URS N Series EQ VariFi Voce Chorus Vibrato Voce Spin WaveShell-DAE 5.0 I have PT on a G5 dual 2.0/3.5GB of ram, running system 10.3.4. Files are being recorded to a SATA 10K drive. I removed my ATTO card/SCSI drive thinking that might have something to do with it. It didn't. The 192 is being clocked by Big Ben. In the current session I'm working on, these are the plug-ins being used: Autotune MDW URS Reverb One LA2A 1176LN Phoenix D-Verb Stylus B4 Trilogy Impact Sony Oxford Correct me if I'm wrong. If I removed the ADC, wouldn't I get latency issue's between plug-ins and individual tracks? I thought leaving in On, maintains time alignment between plug-in and track. Also, I removed every plug-in which had been converted with the FXPansion VST to RTAS adapter. To expedite your research, if you need any additional information, let me know. Dean

ronwasserman ,
You might want to update Phoenix to 2.06. It may not solve the currect clicking problem, but it is available. Dean

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
DIGI- Is there a fix for this? I'm surprized that out of all Pro Tools users, only a few have mentioned this. Are some users not having "end of region" trouble?

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
Hi,
This is a very rare issue so far the only reports of it that we have seen have been the ones here on the DUC. We have not been able to reproduce it in house yet. Have any of you noticed a pattern. Are there plug-ins on the tracks that this is happening on. If you create a test session with no plug-ins can you get it to happen? At this point you guys are the only source of direct insight into this issue that we have so please continue to post anything that you think could be helpful and if you have a chance to experiment with the above suggestion please let us know what your results are. Thanks again, Digidesign Tech Support |

Re: DIGI - Clicks and Vocals at the end of regions.
DIGI- Thanks for your response.
Would it help if I sent you a soundbyte of the actual sound "I hear" at the end of the region? Let me know, and I'll sent it out immediately. You can get in touch with me via: [email protected] Dean
