I just got a 2012 and I have seen no errors running PT12.4

I would recommend a 2012 because it has both Thunderbolt and FW800...they can also be had for the same amount of money

If it’s got to be stable buy a newer model.

The Macbook 2010 GPU kernel panic issue is commonly caused by a failed tantalum capacitor on a video power rail (frame buffer). The part costs $2 and takes about an hour to change. I have repaired two 2010 MBP with this problem. Back in the day Apple would replace the logic board and if out of warranty costs $750.
Anyway if that spooks you go for a 2012 as Daniel said in earlier post plus it has USB3.
