Default Request: Exit Preview after Write command

I would love to have an option to turn on "Exit Preview after Write to" command."

That would be really awesome.

Nothing like doing a perfect music pass and realizing you were still in Preview the whole time.... Not that I've made that mistake.

I programmed a “write to” command in pt control to do that, but a pref would be easier when I don’t have access to control app.

I'd say 2 separate prefs:

Exit Preview after "Write to..."
Exit Preview after "Punch Preview"

I use them in different situations and would probably want one on and one off

Some time ago in a similar discussion I suggested something that could be called auto-preview:

http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2183266&postcount=5

Probably dead in the water since IS was closed but the description is still in that post.

But it would avoid the total destruct "GuardianAngel"-case and save tons of clicks every day.

This is a nice idea Frank!
The only thing is that sometimes I actually want to write automation across the whole timeline.

For my particular workflow I like that preview stays enabled after a write to command (I'm almost always in preview enabled), because if I like it to be disabled I just punch preview before writing to selection.

Agreed. Keyboard maestro does this for me whilst we wait for AVID.

I would be more happy to have, in reference to using Preview

Write to All

And

Write to selection

separated on different buttons, rather than dependant on transport playing or not. I often want to write to selection and rarely to all. I’ve occasionally lost weeks of automation work without realising it then having to backtrack to previous saves to find it and to get it back, I recon it’s happened to quite a few people here.
