PT11 - UAD2 problems
After updating to PT11, I am having serious CPU issues when using most of the UAD2 omni suite. CPU overload doesn't seem to make sense considering all the DSP is on my two UAD2 quad Satellites??? Has anyone else had these issues with PT11 and UAD2 Plugs? I have seen the AVID set up guidelines and have my machine configured as required.
Any help would be much appreciated. My workflow is being seriously compromised. If this is the wrong forum, I apologize. I don't post very often but am at a total loss. Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
Keep in mind the UA release is a beta and has many bugs.
I use PCI cards and don't have the issue you mention. |

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
My Satellite's are useless in PT HD 11 only my Octo card works - it could be a combination of the 2 together but yes beta has issues

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
I have a UAD2 Quad. So far no major problems with PT11 - other than the latency of UAD plugins using AAX/PT11 is about 5 times the latency of the same session opened in PT10/RTAS (at the same playback buffer). Not a problem for me since I never track with UAD plugs...

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
It is the little microphone on the lower left of the plugin window. When clicked it turns red. Sometimes for drum sessions, I will cheat a bit and use the EMT140 plate reverb in "live" mode while tracking.

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
Is there a way to optimize the card so that the UAD plugs cause less latency?
Shouldn't Pro tools delay compensate everything ? I think I might be getting some shift due to this issue

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems
Avid threw UA a curveball with their new dual buffers in PT11. Great for regular native plugs, but BAD for UA.
Currently, for whatever reason, UA's plugs use Avid's fixed plugin buffer which is 1024 or 2048 depending on sample rate. There's also the issue of delay getting stacked that didn't happen in 10. UA needs to figure this all out and have said that they are looking into it. If they can make their plugs switch between Avid's input buffer on armed tracks and the plugin buffer for everything else, this combined with UA's "Live Mode" and we could be in business. Until then, this is it. UA's plugs in PT have always been pretty much "mix only" due to the latency of the cards/boxes. |
