Default DAE Error 13001

Hi.

I have just loaded Pro Tools 10 from discs onto a new Laptop with Windows 8 (64 bit). When I come to firing up Pro Tools I am getting a DAE error 13001.

I used CMD net user administrator /active:yes to "log on" as admin for the install. I downloaded the latest drivers for my M-Audio Fastrack Ultra 8R prior to install.

Anyone any ideas please. Desperate to get up and running!

Cheers,

T

Hey

Try these KB pages and these links. Has to do with memory allocation as far as I understand it.

Hopefully that will help you somewhat.
Also try to disable "disk cache" under settings and see if the problem persists.

Best

Thanks for that.

I looked through previous posts and found something similar. I right clicked Pro Tools to find that integrated graphics was default. I changed this to NVidia and also ran as admin. However...

I then got this error:

Could not allocate memory for the disc cache. Try lowering your disc buffer (DEA Buffer), disc cache size or engine voice count. If you got this error on launch delete your prefs and try again (-9514).

I am not a very experienced user so I don't really have a clue where to change this stuff. Any help gratefully received.

Thanks,

T

PS Pro Tools isn't opening so I can't get to the menus to change any of this?

Computer model and processor speed Lenovo with Intel i7 3612QM 2.1GHz
OS version Windows 8
Avid hardware model M-Audio Fasttrack Ultra 8R
Pro Tools version 10.0.0
Amount of RAM installed 8Gb
No other FireWire or USB devices attached
Number and type (firewire, SATA, SCSI, etc) of drives installed ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB. Hard drive split into 3, C, D and P for ProTools recording files (nothing on it yet).
So far all I have done is what is listed above.

Is it possible to change the DAE Buffer, Disc cache etc. from outside Pro Tools or is this done only within PT from the dropdowns?

Thanks,

T

Hi

You need to be able to start PT in order to make the necessary changes and if no one else can jump in and help out I would reinstall everything including Windows and start at the beginning. Whats your soundcard? Have you installed the latest drivers for the soundcard (M-Audio) and the PT update version 10.3.6 or 10.3.7?

Before wiping the windows and pro tools off try Download the latest update of PT10. It will be in your Avid account and be called 10.3.7 or 10.3.6.

Try that and come back

Hi.

Just to let you know, I downloaded 10.3.7 yesterday. When I installed it wouldn't attempt to open but I changed to compatibility mode for Windows 7 and opened as Admin and (fingers crossed) all seeks OK.

I have had a couple of error messages today:

6085 - "The audio device buffer overflowed, if this occurs frequently try decreasing the H/W buffer size........"

Q. If it overflowed should I not be increasing it?

I then got the CPU usage error a few times. I had it set at 90%. Now changed to 99%. If the error persists does this indicate the CPU may not be able to handle Pro Tools?

Thanks,

T
