Default Keep losing connection with my 002!

My system specs:
PT 6.9.2
G5 Dual 2.0
4.5Gb of Ram
UAD-1 Card
Mackie HUI
No other Firewire peripherals except my 002 connected. Occasionally a USB 2.0 drive (backup)

During complex sessions, I'm losing connection to my 002 - the error telling me to check connections, too many RTAS plugs, or increase HW buffer. My HW buffer is at 1024, priority level 2 (default), 99% of the CPU usage alloted, no other background apps. Track count under 24 tracks/ 12-16 busses/ one master fader. Conservative plug usage (mostly using my UAD through the auxes).

Am I really reaching my threshold of CPU power with this set up? I was able to have many more tracks/ plugs/ auxes via my MOTU DP setup on the same PC. Am I doing anything wrong?
