...hyperthreading..
maybe a stupid question, but i just saw someone else's post that said hyperthreading is good for PT 7...i know for the older versions you were supposed to disable it...i was just wondering if anyone understands why...i don't really know what hyperthreading is and was just wondering how it affects Pro Tools...

Re: ...hyperthreading..
Here you go,
HT Technology helps desktop users get more performance out of existing software in multitasking environments. Many applications are already multi-threaded and will automatically benefit from this technology. And to explain alittle further, you'll also hear the words threads involved along with HT, this is a way for your computer to work on two (2) things at a time...But, hold on, there's Dual CPU's on a single die which will give you (4) threads meaning more things it can handle, like burning cd's, word processing, watching movies and playing games all at the same time! That's it in a nutshell... One CPU with HT gives you two threads Dual Core with HT gives you four threads Dual CPU Dual Core with HT gives you eight threads...software just not there yet, maybe for servers though? |
