Default Crash when adjusting Instrument track MIDI volume

PT 7.1 on 2x2,5GHz G5 with 10.4.4: When I adjust the MIDI volume on an instrument track with a RTAS MIDI instrument inserted, the Mac is going down with a kernel panic. Wonder if this is a bug in 7.1 with 10.4.4, or if it is the FXpansion VST to RTAS converter that is the problem. Does anybody know?
