Default Copying single tracks from one file to another new file

I have scoured the manual but can't seem to find any reference to copying a single track from one file into a brand new file. I tried copying the entire track, closing the file it was residing in and then creating a brand new file, but the paste is then greyed out. Is this possible?

A workaround I have come to use is to rename the file and delete the unwanted tracks, but this does not seem to be the best way to go about this.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I run PT 7.4 LE, CS update, Digi 002, Desktop, Win XP.

Thanks.

Thanks again, SPKGUITAR! You're the best. I was unfamiliar with the term "session data" relating to a track, hence I overlooked that.....
