Default Digital routing help with effects

I currently have an AMIII but I am considering upgrading to the Digi001.

I have a Lexicon MPX1 which has S/PDIF I/Os.
I also have a Alesis Q2 which has ADAT optical I/Os.

Is it possible to send a digital signal to the Lexicon via S/PDIF and the Q2 via optical at the same time? Could I then return them to my mix digitally at the same time?

The Digi001 Quick Start guide says you can only use one pair of S/PDIF at a time, but if I'm not using the Optical connector in S/PDIF mode and instead I'm using it in ADAT optical mode can I do this?

Can I send out to an effects unit digitally but return it through the analog inputs?

If not, then what are my other options? Thanks.

You can use both the Spdif(coax) and optical as Adat Lightpipe at the same time. You can return them digitaly or via analog, your choice.
AMIII and 001 simultaneously. PTLE only lets you choose one playback engine. So unless there are some special drivers/extensions I don't think so.
