Default Asus K8V Models- K8V- K8V Deluxe - K8V deluxe SE

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to use any of the Asus K8V Models for the Allenstein AMD 64 machine and if so what the differences were. I researched all three but I'm not really a motherboard guy so I didn't quite understand the differences, any clarification would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Zepp9

Zepp, your not alone. It is mostly small changes that don't seem to affect PTLE performance. Things like the type of ethernet chip used etc. Check the reviews at Newegg to be sure there aren't problems with any of them.

Thanks Allen, I will do that. The last time I built the Allenstein machine I used the FIC AU13 instead of the A7V600 (which is sitting in my Apt. still new) and it worked perfectly minus 2 AUX tracks with the DaveC test, but it ran 3 degrees celsius cooler, I might just bite the bullet with the FIC K8T800 which is half the price of the K8V and post the results.

I have the k8v deluxe motherboard, and Im using the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ prosessor. I have 1024 MB ram and a 200 GB HD. It works fine, on win XP home edition. I just have one problem. The digidesign compressor makes a loud noise sometimes, when I close the compressor everything is OK again. That's my only thing, for now....

K8V stripped version should work fine. K8V deluxe which most of us are using is great choice, includes fast Gigibit LAN. K8V deluxe SE, "second edition" is the newest out, but for some reason includes slower Ethernet LAN.
