Default cpu errors in 8.0.1

please get it together. i have a non working system. multiple cpu errors! what is the deal with this program?

if its not one thing its another. sorry to be so hard lately but..this programs state deserves it. cpu after cpu after cpu errors. my cpu meter shows almost nothing as in maybe 5%

please explain

it would be one thing if this stuff was free, its not. i buy a product i want it to work. minor things i can live with and partially understand. this thing just spits out error after error for no reason.

p.s. this is install on the same machine i had 8 cs3 on. i did not have the cpu errors in 8cs3.

What error code are you getting?

Is it a 6031 error?

Cheers

So I fear the answer to this question but I'm fairly new to Pro Tools. How long until we can expect a fix for this CPU issue? This is my livelyhood and I can't work like this. I feel like ripping my hair out. I'm going along everythings great, only using 20% CPU then BAM! A 6000 something error about CPU overload for no reason. Please Digidesign I may be new to you and naive but I trust you. Please fix this quickly.

How many cores do you have it set to use? If it is set to use all of them then try knocking it down by 1 core and see if that helps. Also what hardware buffer size are you set to. Playback buffer size? A bit more info would be helpful if you would like to get to the bottom of this.

you better believe i would like to get to the bottom of this
i've tried all different playback engine configs all diff buffer settings

also, i feel this tweaking is irrelevent. its very simple, i press play, i hear music, i see error!! pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

your sig shows your on mac. are you having these issues on your mac? are you using HD??

I am indeed on a mac and I sold my HD rig a few years ago but use them on a regular basis. I also work on windows based setups on occasion although i know from experience that being on a mac eliminates some of the potential problematic variables that come with pc's that are not 100% compliant with Digi's strict guidelines.

I am not having cpu issues on my mac but others do and therefore we as engineers in the era of computer based recording have to know how to trouble shoot our systems. it's a neccesity and is in no way irrelevant. Listen, I know there are bugs in the software. There is also the potential for pilot error. I was just going to offer a helping hand in trying to resolve or at least minimize your issues. i am sorry if that offends you. Perhaps you came here to vent more than to try and resolve your issues. I wish you the best of luck as I know how frustrating these things can be particularly when your livelihood depends on it.

digitopian,no offence taken. simply asking questions just as you are. sorry if i offended you, no offence meant on this end . i doubt its pilot error although, i've mad a few of those in the past

reread my post about the playback engine settings, in concerns of relevance. the error happens all of the time at all settings

I have the same problem on PC too, the 6031 error. I've gone back to cs3.
